PhD Research Project
Identifying Organisational Artificial Intelligence Readiness
From the business perspective, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a general-purpose technology with a unique learning capability that provides organisations with the potential for wide-ranging organisational improvements and helps create entirely new business opportunities. Digitalisation is essential for attaining competitive advantages and enhancing organisational agility. Faced with increased digital maturity, firms prioritise the adoption of artificial intelligence. Most organisations use technology and digital transformation journeys to improve their competitive advantage. While adopting AI is a vital strategic component, it cannot solely improve the organisation’s competitive advantage. Assessing the organisation’s AI readiness is a critical initial step in the organisation’s digital transformation journey. The aim of measuring organisational AI readiness is to evaluate and improve the preparedness of different organisational stakeholders to use AI effectively and responsibly and encourage AI adoption. This information will help organisations plan and increase their transformation journeys’ success rate. It will also help provide a holistic view of an organisation’s preparedness for AI, considering innovation and implementation capabilities and identifying potential strengths and weaknesses to guide targeted improvement efforts. This research study aims to quantify the measurement of organisational artificial intelligence readiness and develop a holistic framework that can be applied to all industries and organisations of varying sizes and structures. It will help organisations comprehensively understand their AI readiness for informed decision-making.
